After studying violin, Bettina Ranch devoted herself exclusively to singing. She performs both in concert as well as in opera productions, and works regularly with such renewed ensembles as the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Concerto Köln, Leipziger Kammerorchester, Bamberger Symphonikern, Bochumer Symphonikern, Deutschen Kammerorchester Berlin, Schleswig-Holstein Festivalorchester.
In 2007 she made her debut at the Grand Theatre Luxembourg and at the Berliner Staatsoper, performing Pascal Dusapin’s Medea. The production of the choreographer Sasha Waltz, in cooperation with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin musically directed by Marcus Creed, was staged until 2010 in Paris, Lille, Brussels, at the Melbourne International Arts Festival and the Holland Festival in Amsterdam.
Under the baton of Helmuth Rilling, Ms. Ranch performed the B-minor Mass with the International Bachakademie at the Bachwoche Ansbach, and Mendelssohn’s Paulus with the Orquesta Sinfonica y Coro de RTVE in Madrid and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano G. Verdi in Milan.
During the 2010/11 season, she was engaged as Lucilla in Christoph Graupner’s baroque opera Berenice and Lucilla at the Darmstädter Residenzfestspiele, conducted by Wolfgang Seeliger and staged by Sigrid T´Hooft. Next she performed the title role in Handel's Ariodante with the ensemble “così facciamo”, under the baton of Hans Huyssen and the stage direction of Kobie van Rensburg, touring in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
In the 2011/12 season, Ms. Ranch sang the title role in Handel’s Giulio Cesare and the Third Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and two different roles in Valtinoni’s The Snow Queen at the Komische Oper Berlin. She then gave her Wagnerian debut as Schwertleite in Die Walküre at the Aalto-Theater Essen under Stefan Soltesz, concluding the season with the part of Bradamante in Handel’s Alcina at the Händelfestspiele Halle (conducted by Bernhard Forck and staged by Andrej Woron).
In the 2012/13 season she appeared as Flosshilde in Wagner’s Rheingold at the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, under the baton of Hartmut Haenchen, as the Third Lady in The Magic Flute at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and as Schwertleite Die Walküre, this time conducted by Simone Young.
Most recently, Ms. Ranch’s concert schedule has included Mozart's Coronation Mass with the Hamburg Philharmonic under Simone Young, a Mozart-Rossini Gala concert with the Bremen Philharmonic under Markus Poschner, Haydn's Il Ritorno di Tobia with the Capella Cracoviensis conducted by Paul Goodwin, and a revival of Handel’s Alcina at the Händelfestspiele Halle.
A CD recording of Franz Schubert’s sacred music (including Mass in AS - Major), with the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra under Morten Schuldt-Jensen, has been published by Naxos.
